Ambivert Apolla Asteria
GMM: So tell us a bit about yourself:
Apolla Asteria:: Well my name is Apolla Asteria and I’m an Actress, Model, Guitarist, Artist, UFO Convention Speaker
extraordinaire. I’m originally from Peoria, Illinois and of Irish and German descent. Measurements are 32B-24-32
GMM: Give us 5 words that you think best describe you?
Apolla Asteria: creative, mystical, muse, independent and complex.
GMM: Your Astrological sign is?
Apolla Asteria: Virgo
GMM: How would you describe your personality in that regard?
Apolla Asteria: I am an ambivert; half introvert, half extravert. Half the time I am
making art and reading and doing my own thing, the other half I spend
performing with the band I am in or selling my spears at events or
speaking at UFO conferences! I dont really fit in this paradigm but I
do my best. Im not sure how others view my personality, but I consider
myself to be goal driven, creative, and a bit comedic 😉
GMM: What would you say is your best asset?
Apolla Asteria: My brain 🙂 But if we are talking about looks, probaly my natural
redhead look.
GMM: What do others compliment you on the most?
Apolla Asteria: The most compliments I recieve are regarding the all the avenues of
work I take on for my career. I am always doing so much, whether it is
perorming as a guitarist, selling my art at events, acting, modeling,
or speaking in the UFO scene.
GMM: How did you get started in modeling?
Apolla Asteria: I started training with Barbizon Modeling and acting school in
Illinois when I was 12. Soon after, I signed with and agency in
Chicago and spent some time meeting with agents in NYC. I was in the
Miss Illinois Teen USA pageant in highschool and began freelance
modeling around the nation for a few years before moving to LA and
joining agencies here.
GMM: Are you signed with an agency?
Apolla Asteria: Yes, a few actually. Although I will be dropping these to sign with a
more well-established agency next week!
GMM: What do you enjoy most about modeling?
Apolla Asteria: What I enjoy most is of course dressing up, but also the “dance”
between models and photographers. I love collaborating with ideas and
working together to create the perfect artistic shot. It is an
interesting process.
GMM: What is the funniest thing to happen to you on a shoot?
Apolla Asteria: This one time a photographer was bragging to me about how he had never
been stung by a bee and then right after he was stung by a bee that I
had just saved from drowing in water. I guess it wasnt so funny for
him but it was pretty funny later.
GMM: What are the top three things you like to shoot?
Apolla Asteria: I enjoy pinup/early playboy/Marilyn Monroe style posing and looks the
most. When I used to travel the country as a freelance model I had
alot of fun with figure art in nature. Most of all I like being done
up with wild avant-garde hair and makeup looks and shooting in awesome
designs.
GMM: Do you enjoy the constant attention and adoration that comes with
being a glamour model?
Apolla Asteria: Many psychologists have told me I didnt get enough attention as a kid
and apparently seek it through this now. I guess that makes sense to
me lol. Although alot of times I dont like attention especially if it
is not the right kind. I think it is more about the art for me.
GMM: Where do you want your career to be in two years?
Apolla Asteria: In two years I still want to be doing the same things I am doing now
but more well established and higher paid I guess. I am pretty happy
where I am at now 🙂
GMM: What are some of your hidden talents other than modeling?
Apolla Asteria: I express most of my talents. I guess my hidden ones most people
probably dont know about would be; pogo sticking, water skiing, energy
healing, and writing.
GMM: Take us through your getting ready to model routine?
Apolla Asteria: I start my day by playing music (usually classic rock faves) while
prepping my look for the day. If the photographer is fun enough I like
to have half a shot of tequila to relax a little and get into the
zone, then I ask the photographer some of what they are looking for
and the way they like to shoot that way we flow more smoothly.
GMM: What is the best info you can give a new model?
Apolla Asteria: It depends on what type of model they are aspiring to be. If they wish
to be a high fashion model I would tell them to make sure they meet
height/size requirements and don’t go into agencies with lots of
makeup/flashy clothes. If they are freelance I would say; always make
sure you research the photographers you are to work with for your
safety. There are lots of crazies out there, especially in the model
mayhem scene. Fortunately, you can always look at the models the have
worked with and if they are friends of yours or not don’t be afraid to
ask the models of their experience with the photographer. Especially
if it is paid out of town work.
GMM: As a model, what would you say has been your biggest obstacle?
Apolla Asteria: The biggest obstacle from my career would definitely be the
hate/jealousy I had to experience from putting myself out there in a
small town at the beginning of my career. People went to the extent of
posting on Facebook about me talking crap and I noticed the worst of
it seemed to come from guys I had turned down, funny enough… I never
fit in as my eccentric, artistic, free spirited self there. I continue
to deal with this kind of thing to this day from my colleagues in the
UFO scene. I dont understand why people think you should be ashamed of
your body. I love radical self expression, that is my true form. I
also had a couple relationships with guys who made me feel terrible
about shooting which caused me to stop modeling for couple years.
Fortunately I now live in Los Angeles and fit in very nicely here 🙂
GMM: If you had to walk away from modeling today, what memory would you
take from it?
Apolla Asteria: I have endless amazing memories from my many years in this career
path. Most of my favorite memories are spending time with other
gorgeous talented models, traveling the country with them and having
amazing times together.
GMM: If you had to walk away, what would you like to be remembered most
for?
Apolla Asteria: I would like to be remembered for my unique look as a true redhead.
GMM: What, if anything, did we leave out that you want your fans to know?
