Northwest Niki Blackhawk

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and now reside in Las Vegas and my  name is Niki Blackhawk. I’m mostly Italian, a little French with measurements of 36C-25-35.  Four words to describe me? Let’s go with: passionate, Ambitious, Strong-Willed, Caring.  I’m a Gemini…but I’m always nervous to share that because I don’t feel that I have two sides (I hope not?), and that is perceived as such a negative trait. But my birthday falls right on the Taurus/Gemini border, so I like to think that I’m a little bit of both.

What would you say is your best asset?

This may sound silly, but I love my eyelashes!

How did you get your start in modeling?

I had the opportunity to shoot with a wonderful photographer a few years ago. Since he was willing to take the plunge and be the first to work with me, it opened doors for me with other photographers in the area. I fell in love with the energy of the photo shoot, and the chemistry between the model and photographer to capture the perfect look, feel, image.

Are you signed with an agency?

I’m currently represented by BESTAgency in Las Vegas.

What are the top three genres of modeling you enjoy the most?

I love shooting editorial/fashion, swimwear/lingerie, and glamour.

What is the best info you can give a new model?

Research the photographer and team with which you’ll be working; don’t be afraid to ask for model references if working with a photographer for the first time; develop a well-rounded portfolio that showcases your strengths and the direction you’d like to take your career; always be on time (which means early!) to scheduled commitments – punctuality, reliability, and accountability can go a long way in this industry; and always trust your instincts when it comes to people and situations that may make you feel uncomfortable.

If you had to walk away from modeling today, what memory would you take from it?

Hands down, the people. I will always remember all the amazingly talented people with whom I’ve worked. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the relationships I’ve developed over the past few years. Every photographer, designer, and hair and makeup artist means so much to me, and I would never be where I am today without each and every one of them.
