There are few in our genre who needs no introduction. Today, we feature one of those photographers as our newest Staff Photographer. We would like to formally introduce you Mr. Staff Photographer Nino Batista of Texas! Nino has been a moving force in Glamour and Commercial work for some time now. An amazing artist and master workshop instructor, it was only common that we bring him on board! Let’s take a minute and get to know the man behind the amazing images we know and love:
How long have you been a photographer?
Long story. Lets say 5 years.
How did you get your start?
Thanks, dad. 😉
Do you like to share your secrets? Or do you like to keep them close to your vest?
I teach photography, lighting and retouch around the country and soon Europe.
Who would you love to shoot?
Whoa, too many to list…
Who is the most famous person you’ve shot?
Not sure. Some make some pretty wild claims.
What makes you different from other photographers?
Among glamour photographers, I’m a husband of 15 years, a dad of 3, and pretty much a nerd. Seriously.
Who is your favorite photographer?
Erik Almas
What is your ultimate goal as a photographer?
Continue traveling and working on a global level, more often.
What traits do you look for in a model?
Varies highly from project to project.
Canon? or Nikon?
Canon
What is your favorite lens to use?
50mm baby…
What is your favorite lighting gear?
Large parabolics with diffusers, I would guess…
Mac? or PC?
Mac since 1984. #boom
Do you have a favorite location to shoot?
Not really. I always want the next location…
Do you bring a stylist or MUA to your shoots?
Client usually provides, or model provides.
Do models try to play you for gimmies? If so, does it work?
That’s sort of the underlying game in this industry, all around, isn’t it? 😉
Do you find it difficult to be around such beautiful women?
Not at all. I’m married to one.
Do you use Model Mayhem?
Not anymore. No, thank you.
What is your favorite social network?
Facebook has done really well for me thus far.
What do you love about it? What do you hate?
Ok, not really, I used to love FB for what it did for visibility, but lets be honest they neutered us all recently.
Do you think photographers get a bad rap?
Glamour photographers? Absolutely. That said, most deserve their rap. No excuse for un-professionalism.
Whats your worst experience from a shoot?
Unsure. Showing up to an studio-style, indoor exotic car shoot without my lights sucked pretty bad though.
Do you see a solid career for the bikini/glamour model?
Actually, yes. I see it play out all the time with models I have worked with.
Is there anything you want to express that people should know about this business?
I don’t take myself too seriously, and neither should you. But taking your business seriously, now that’s a different matter. 😉
Is there anything we haven’t asked that you want others to know about you? The industry? Your favorite cereal?
Not really, I think I’ve babbled long enough!
